Resumen del libro

The present research work presents the archaeological and anthropological aspects inherent to the process of depositing in a mortuary space a cadaver with offerings. The investigation is based on the archaeological findings discovered inside a Pre-Columbian architectonical unit in the neighborhood of La Cruz of the city of San Juan el Río in Querétaro. The burials and oblations in the archaeological site of Iztac Chichimecapan ‘white place of the chichimecas’, (the site of the foundation of the city of San Juan el Rio), reveal a far more complex conception of death and its implications in the Pre-Columbian funerary rituals (religous, social and cultural).
